Senior Product Analyst with UI Expertise
Job Summary
A Senior Product Analyst with UI prototyping experience within the Product Management and Development group supports the Development team by eliciting key business requirements and ensuring development readiness. The primary role of the Product Analyst is to prepare product backlog items for development by gathering functional and technical requirements and creating sufficient level of prototype/detail for development to commence. Often, requirement gaps can cause inefficient development, so this role will help to address that. Some technical knowledge and a career background on a software product team focused on web-based development (SaaS) is mandatory. The ability to take concepts and express them as workable ideas through acceptance criteria, diagrams, low-fi wireframes, and even HTML/CSS prototypes will bring success in this role.
Qualifications:
• BS in a computer related field or equivalent work experience
• Excellent analytical and gap-analysis skills
• 3+ years of web-based software as a service team experience
• 2+ years of Microsoft-centric, web application product team experience ideal
• Minimum 2 years of requirements gathering and elicitation experience
• Expert in MS Office tools: Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint
• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skill
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff
• Ability to negotiate acceptable solutions to complex problems across multiple business and/or technical areas
• Understanding of achieving minimum viable product/win vs. full-scale solution
• Ability to cope with changing priorities and multiple assignments
Essential Duties
Requirements Gathering & Gap Analysis
· Understands the OASIS product domain and works to become a true product expert from the eyes of a configurator and end-user
· Partners with the Client Services team to listen to active client or onboarding client requirements to ensure success and cross-client awareness
· Cultivates functional, technical, or system requirements to drive product backlog items to commencement and completion
· Aware of differences between types of requirements
· Establishes acceptance criteria that meet business-facing expectations, and obtain technical feasibility and QA buy-in
· Full lifecycle requirements management across > 1 project in-flight at the same time; ability to multi-task to resolve questions and blocks on development team
· Knowledge of requirements and task management systems & traceability processes
· Participates in the UAT process including feature-release validation and acceptance
· Strong verbal and written communicator
Prototyping & Diagramming
· Understands activity diagrams, swimlanes, flowcharts (correct usage of symbols), and some UML
· Evaluates essential user interface requirements, produces screen sketches, and some concrete UI prototypes (e.g. HTML pages)
· Understands differences needed in UI workflow for web/mobile-media vs. print, desktop, etc.
· Prior experience prototyping web-based software UI a strong plus, and any samples of wireframe or prototype work helpful during interviewing process
· Working awareness of web-based images including PNG, GIF, JPEG, and vector-based formats/resolutions/web standards; ability to create simple icons/images if required
· Prior experience managing creative or design resources (including outsourced) also a plus
Technical Analysis
· Ability to read and also create HTML(5), CSS(3), and XML/XSD (validation)
· Ability to read and create basic to intermediate SQL statements to query a Microsoft SQL-Server database (CRUD, joins, and working awareness of SQL object types)
· Prior use of a web debugger like Fiddler(2) or HTTP Scoop to help trace web communication issues (helpful)
· Willingness to “read code” (VBScript, Javascript, C#, rare PHP) to deduce basic logic-flow/functionality
